This Site Is Not a Government Office. Oklahoma Residents Directory is privately operated and does not hold the government records described here. It cannot obtain or certify a copy, verify who lives at an address, or change a roll or database. Contact the public body that keeps the record. Call 911 for an emergency. For stalking or harassment concerns, contact local law enforcement.
Where to Start with an Oklahoma Record
Oklahoma has 77 county custodians, and the correct office depends on where the parcel, case, event, or registration belongs. Use the record type and location to choose a route:
- Who owns or lives along a street: see the Oklahoma street directory
- Old directory volumes and past residents: see the Oklahoma city directory collections
- Finding or verifying one person: see the Oklahoma resident lookup walkthrough
- The offices behind the rolls: see Oklahoma resident records offices
- A government record not online: ask the public body that holds it under the Oklahoma Open Records Act, 51 O.S. §§24A.1–24A.31; give a clear description, a general date range, and useful search terms
The State Election Board accepts requests only for its own records. Its Open Records request page explains its form, email route, reasonable-specificity rule, and possible copying charges. For records held by another agency or county, send the request to that custodian; the Board cannot process it for them.
Historical and directory research: the Oklahoma Historical Society Research Center is at the Oklahoma History Center, 800 Nazih Zuhdi Drive, Oklahoma City, OK 73105. Its published research phone is (405) 522-5225, and its contact page lists hours of Tuesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4:45 p.m.; it is closed Sundays, Mondays, and state holidays. Search the Research Center resources first; the city-directory catalog can be searched by city or year, while the listed books are accessed at the Center. Research and copy requests are also available through its orders page.
State-government archives: the Oklahoma Department of Libraries asks visitors to give at least two weeks' notice so materials can be retrieved. Contact the State Archives at its official page or at archives@libraries.ok.gov before planning an onsite visit.
